In 2009, Harlan and his wife Patty first came to Ocean Reef on a business function and fell in love with the community. They became social members the following year and bought their home in Villa Cay in 2012.

Harlan is currently the CEO of Pure Fishing, the largest private company in the fishing industry with brands like Penn, Berkeley, Abu Garcia, and Hardys. He previously served as the CEO of Performance Sporting Goods, the NYSE listed owner of Bauer Hockey and Easton Baseball. His work experience also includes 13 years with Yankee Candle, consulting with Bain and Company and leadership positions with Totes Isotoner and Campbell Soup.

Harlan, a Dartmouth College graduate, has also served on several public company boards such as PF Changs, Rue 21, and AT Cross, as well as Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

Harlan and Patty raised their three children in West Hartford, Connecticut until becoming residents of Florida in 2017. When at Ocean Reef, they enjoy fishing, golfing, boating, and being part of many clubs within the club. Looking to give back to the community his family loves, Harlan joined the ORCA Finance and Audit Committee in 2018.
